A Bit of Green.

Buffalo trees and Architecture are very nice in the summer. Try and compete.

The City of Horrible Drivers

Buffalo has the shittiest drivers in any metropolis. Now this is just an opinion noted during a heated period, but they are just rank. A few SUVs and pick up trucks were blindly weaving and speeding on the Kensington and scaring Canadians who were driving to the mall. I was on my way to work and they were causing havoc all over, esp at the 33-90 merger. In the city it is just running red lights and cutting off all over the place. Best St. is the worst, and i mean worst. Those drivers are slightly retarded and will kill somebody one day. Anyways, thats all i had to say.

I'm back.

It's been quite a while but they have me working like a mad man and i'm planning a wedding. Yeah i'm getting married. In only 3 months it will be all over for the single life, on with the cheaper life of splitting all the bills. Well at least i hope its like that. We will be living in Buffalo and i hope to introduce her to all the wonderful things that can be done here. I'm sure she will love it. For now, it's back to work.

Buffalo is Alive Again!

Just driving down Delaware, Elmwood, Cleveland and Auburn just shows that Buffalo is alive for one more summer of fun. The city looks beautiful, clean and filled with people. Maybe its my imagination, but there seems to be more businesses open and more people patronizing them. I love it so much. Its just nice to see the canapy of trees and landscaping accenting the buildings that are lost in time. We really are privledged to live in such a asthetically pleasing region. Enjoy yourself this summer and appreciate all that Buffalo has to offer.

Some Ideas

You know when you take the Gardiner into Toronto and the business advertisements are created on the side of the highway? well would'nt that be nice if someone cleaned up the side of the Kensington just before and after ECMC and did the same thing? We can Fisher Price, Moog, General Mills and that kind of stuff right there. I think it would look good and clean up the 33 while were at it. Another thing, a little more difficult, but just an idea. The old Juvie hall on Best and Timon. Buy it, demo it and build another satellite school for UB, like a Law or medical building. Now the neighborhood isnt the best, but if you buy one or two blocks at about $10,000 a block and build college row houses and graduate living, shit would shape up. If shitty neighborhoods can spread, so can nice ones. With the science center, the new Jefferson/Best business corridor going up and proximity to Main and Delaware, this just make one more nice oasis in the city. Plus children attending City Honors can see what a little good schooling can do. Maybe it will help some of the Traditional kids too. The place is a shithole right now and could be bought for a song, might as well. While you're at it, the old seminary off of Best by the 33 entrance. Make it another UB or Buff State building, or an extension on the Science Center, like a museum and educational center in one. Who knows but the least we can do is think.

Have a nice weekend, i suggest a little Founding Fathers or Colter Bay. Get yourself a good pint.

Artspace People

So it's Friday night and the Artspace apartments have some sorrt of open house dealie. More like people who would never go into the city for anything besides free shit wine and cheese and STEALING ALL THE FUCKING PARKING SPACES!!!!!!! Listen, please, we appreciate your interest in that project, it is kind of cool, but there is a parking lot for you. DO NOT steal all the street parking on Barker and Linwood. I work at 4am and it's quite a bitch to walk to North St. just to get to my car. This is not really me thinking about Buffalo, but all the Mercedes Benzs and jaguars and shit will make me hike a mile to my domestic Pontiac. This isn't your playground, be considerate and try to let us park by our residences. thank you.

QqQite pissed but i must say the view is fantastic. Linwood is such a beautiful street.

The Everlasting Bridge Question.

So Patterson is saying that construction on the Signature Bridge will start by the end of the year. Why is he involved in this so much? because some eco-people are afraid of some fish and birds. They say that migratory birds will, en masse, fly into the towers or cables or supports of the bridge and die. The birds are so "used to" these flight patterns that they will not deviate from their trajectory. This caused federal involvement and the Bridge Authority, who has no power to do so, changed the plans from modern and inspiring bridge that just might class up the joint to some rinky dink rope bridge that would fit in an Indiana Jones movie. well, Patterson, Schumer and the rest of the tired people of this city said "fuck that". A.) birds are not that stupid, they will move out of the way, or a few will splatter and the rest will become accustomed to the landscape. B.) dickheads with absolutely no interest in the city or region of either country have to open their mouths about some fuckin fish! FISH! they swim under the bridge like have been for a million fuckin years. plus its only going to be Sheephead and other ugly fish. The moral is this. As we all know its been over a decade of debate and bullshitting over what the bridge will be. Will it be two bridges or one. Front Park area or kick a bunch of people out their houses. A Swiss architect or English. Finally someone just told them to quit being Nancies and just find something that will brighten this city. This city is amazing and unlike what people believe, it's on the rise and on the mend. Give us something to be proud of, something that will gleam over the horizon and say "hey! Canadians! welcome to motha fuckin Buffalo! enjoy our new and improved downtown business, shopping and eatery districts. Our lowered crime rate, maintained historic park and green land system, pretty damn good Universities and colleges and the general good natured people along the way." This is just one more small thing that just might make us a pretty good destination for business, young professionals, ANYONE! check the city stat website. You would be amazed at the infrastructure being built or ones that have been finished. To our pleasure, its pretty long. Now new buildings need residents. Check the wave of young people living in the newly renovated warehouses like the Elk Terminals, Artspace or any place on Linwood or Main. A bridge is a step that makes it all legit. This may sound foolish and uninformed, but this city was sleeping for a long time. Some shit is stirring and having a damn nice bridge would make it all seem like we are finally getting somewhere.

now go and enjoy some of the new places downtown, you would be very surprised how good they are.

Allen and Mariner.

So i was enjoying a drink or two at The Pink last night and some guy i went to high school with (even though he did not reccognize me, but i didn't remind him because i don't really care) told me he just moved here from Toronto after graduating from UofT. Wonderful, good for you, you lie but that's not important. The following rubbish that came from his mouth made me want to stick my stirring straw into his ear so that it needed to be professionally removed. He says "...everyone in Toronto just makes fun of Buffalo. It doesn't have any art, music or any class. And it's really fuckin poor" Now from that most people would just produce the stereotypical "yeah!! well... you're fuckin Canadian!!!" and think they won. But i actually like Canada and many of the things it produces. Some of them being the seamingly endless supply of porn site women and places to make your own beer. What it really comes down to is this question "do people who move away feel embarrassed of being from Buffalo?" well, fuck Martha Stewert, they can have her. but all the transplants in NYC, Chicago and basically everywhere couldn't all think that Buffalo ruins all their chances of living a decent life in a house that looks like demilitarized zone but costs as much as a moon landing. Now i know alot of people love this town through and through but they just got a job elsewhere, but can people think it's hip to hate on the Rust Capital just because it does not have the typical qualities of a city on the rise. yeah we do have multi million dollar renovations to historic buildings to create luxury living space. yes we have a festival pretty much everyday in the summer months. and Yes the Bisons are the shit. yeah i know we have shit tons more things that make this city totally money. So it comes down to this... that kid i went to high school is a fuckin idiot and does not even deserve to drink at such a classy place.
